Fudgy, rich chocolate loaf cake topped with a chocolate glaze and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Easy, quick and simple to make! Creme Egg Chocolate Loaf Cake
Happy *bonus* Monday to you!
I could do without our extra day being a Monday, but let’s make the best of it…
How was your weekend? Mine was fuuun! I have regular 90s film nights with my girlfriends and on Friday we watched The Craft. Totally holds up… mostly.
We ate guacamole, homemade hummus and flatbreads and some delicious chocolate peanut butter bars I whipped up based on this recipe.
SO, I’ve already shared A LOT of Creme Egg recipes with you on this blog…. let’s see, we have Creme Egg Chocolate Caramel Shortbread, Creme Egg Brownie Pizza, Creme Egg Cookies…
But I think there’s still room for more, right?!
I hope so, because this won’t be the last one…..
Especially if it’s a super easy and delicious! Like this Creme Egg Chocolate Loaf Cake that would be perfect for Easter get-together’s!
It’s a good chocolate loaf cake that’s easy, fudgy and super chocolatey, and works every time! I based it off of this recipe with just a few tweaks, and topped it with an incredible chocolate glaze that you can make in about two minutes in a saucepan.
So when I took this cake into my work, my colleagues were extremely enthusiastic.
This cake?
This cake was all gone by 10.30am. AM! It didn’t even make it till elevenses.
The animals! Just kidding, I LOVE it when people are happy about the cakes I make!
- For the cake:
- 175g unsalted butter, very soft
- 125g light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste or extract
- 50g dark brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 75ml milk
- 1 heaped tbsp greek yoghurt
- 175g self-raising flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 4tbsp cocoa powder
- 100g milk chocolate chunks
- pinch salt
- For the glaze:
- 100g plain chocolate
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp double cream
- To decorate:
- Full size or mini Creme Eggs
- For the cake:
- Preheat your oven to 160C/gas 3 and prepare a large (2lb) loaf tin by lining it with parchment paper or a paper loaf liner.
- In a large bowl, cream together your butter and sugar and then beat in your three eggs, one at a time. Add the vanilla and salt, and mix in.
- Next, sift in the self-raising flour and cocoa powder to remove any lumps, and finally, stir in the chocolate chunks. Pour the batter into your loaf tin, then bake for 45 minutes (check after 40 minutes but it could need a few minutes longer). It's done when a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean (unless you hit a pocket of molten chocolate of course, but that will look like melted chocolate, not cake batter!).
- For the glaze:
- In a saucepan on a low heat, warm the tub of double cream and add the two Mars bars, cut up into chunks. Let the chocolate melt, stirring gently all the time. Once the glaze is cooled slightly and thickened, pour over the top of your loaf cake and top with more chopped up mars bar or chocolate chunks.

Easter is getting so close, and I still have a few more Easter bakes to share with you… I better get a move on! Are you having an Easter lunch or dinner with family or friends?

I’m a big fan of chocolate loaf cakes and when topped with more chocolate and creme eggs, it’s got to be a winner for sure. Brilliant entry to #WeShouldCocoa – thank you.
oh my lord above what a cake! Not only does it look like a soft, intensely chocolatey cake but then it has the goodness of creme eggs on top…. could there be anything more divine and the absolute perfect link to Simply Eggcellent, so thank you x
Thanks for linking up to We should cocoa this month. What a lovely looking cake

Going to try and rewrite to pounds and ounces first and then try this delicious recipe. I have lots of your others saved but have not converted them yet so haven’t tried them yet. But they all look lovely and delicious. Hugs from Texas

Haha 🙂 I really need to start eating healthier very soon!
Oh I haven’t watched The Craft in years. Thanks for the reminder, I am going to have to watch that this week 🙂
This loaf cake wouldn’t last very long around my creme egg obsessed husband.
The hilarious thing about all these 90s movies is just how much things have moved on since then! So interesting to watch from so many perspectiveS!
Hi Kerry, mmmm another delic recipe … I do usually have a go at most of yours … I love them and they work !! not like the sainsburys disaster I just had !! anyway, I am going to make the recipe, but my little grandson is gluten free…. could I substitute doves farm gluten free flour with maybe some addition of extra moisture ….the choc recipe on the gluten free packet is dry and not very nice !,
Thank you sooooo much for any reply. have a lovely day.xx
Give it a go, let me know what you think! xx
