Odd Wednesday confession time friends – I love Instagram! And I follow over 1300 people on Instragram, which might seem strange, if you don’t use it (or even if you do!). With Facebook I operate a strict policy that I only ‘friend’ people who are really, genuinely friends that I know in real life and I tend to go through and weed out people I’ve lost contact with regularly, trying not to let it go over 100 friends. I mean, who can honestly have 100 friends (no offense if you do, I know it’s hard to say no to people who want to be your facebook friend!).
ANYWAY back to Instagram. Weirdly, I take the opposite approach there and enjoy following people based on their lovely pictures rather than just the ones I know in real life. As a result, I follow lots of great people (especially those with cats, who like baking, and people who live in New England just so I can get a daily dose of my dream life!) and I’m here today to recommend a few great Instagrammers you should definitely be following!
If you’d like to use Instagram in this way, I’d recommend search icon to browse users – its the little magnifying glass icon.
Once you’re there, on the photos tab, you’ll see pictures that Instagram thinks you will like! Mine is a smattering of food, fitness inspiration and pretty stuff, and oftentimes I’ll find new people to follow this way. If you click on the people tab, you’ll also see three photos from users that Instagram think you’d like – lots of mine are from bakeries or other bloggers! I like to click on the usernames to see their full accounts, and sometimes I’ll follow new people this way.
If there’s anything specific you’re looking for, you can also use the search box at the top of this page to find a either users whose usernames you know, or hashtags – #catsofinstagram for instance! Sometimes I also like to see photos from places I’ve visited such as #mystic in Connecticut, and you can search for these here!
Baking
My favourite blogger, and naturally my favourite bloggers Instagram account! I heart Annie and her gorgeous, gorgeous kids! She has impeccable taste too and the peeks into her home renovation are too perfect.
Another awesome food blogger, Sarah also shares great pics from everyday life and of her adorable twins.
Just sprinkles and pastels and cake and I want to live there forever!
I love Cait’s account for healthier baking and meal inspiration and just gorgeous photos.
Now this lady owns my dream bakery! So delicious.
I love daydreaming about somehow getting to the suburbs of Birmingham in time of a Saturday morning to buy all of Steve’s delicious cakes! So great for baking inspiration too!
If you love baking and unusual treats you have to follow Jessie -unicorns, cakes and beautiful original illustrations too!
Home and lifestyle
I am obsessed with this account. Alyson lives near Salem and posts pictures of her dreamy house and neighbourhood. Just my dream life!
Our Little House in the Country
This lady has my dream house. And you’ve got to appreciate these cupboards (I know a certain friend of mine who will!).
If you like scandinavian style, you’ll love this! Again, dream house.
Does what it says on the tin! If you love American architecture you’ll love this account.
Just pretty, inspirational things!
Fitness
Her account involves a fair number of peace sign photos, but if you can overlook that, there’s some great workout moves in the videos she posts – mainly body weight exercises that are inspiring when you’re looking to switch up your workout routine.
Ignoring the slightly awful name of the skinny bitch collective, there are some really great workout and healthy eating ideas here too!
Hannah posts workout videos (and on her youtube too) and recipes – take a look at her blog here.
I hope you love all these accounts! And of course, I’d love to hear recommendations from you on what Instagrammers you love who I should be following!
If you’d like to follow me on Instragram, find me @kerryedwards – see you there!

I follow Cait’s Plate, too π I love the meal inspiration!! I’ll have to start following a few others. Really like these. One of my favorites to follow is Whole30Recipes (I don’t follow the Whole30 but I try to eat as close to it as I can!)

Good tip, will do!
Ooh thanks for the recommendations. I’m obsessed with Instagram. I’ve just followed you – not sure how I wasn’t before to be honest. X

Oh goodness! Will make sure I’m following you too π Thanks for the lovely comment!
I love Instagram too and I prefer it over Twitter for example. Much easier to use and it gives you a better sense of reality in a way or another. I’ve already been following some of the accounts you posted here, but I’ll have a look on the rest.

Thanks so much for your comment Oana! I agree I probably like Instagram the best!
Hi Kerry
You are so kind putting all the info on that you do. I love reading it and making your recipes ….. And I was v interested to see your Instagram stuff. I am going to appear such an ignoramus now, and maybe this isn’t the place to write this, but you seem v kind as I said and I am sure yiu won’t think I am stupid , as hubbie does, but I don’t really know what Instagram is!!!, I don’t do Facebook, My Hubb does, and I LURK (he says I am a lurker….) on his. But if I write anything , usually to our daughter who lives in Adelaide, I always put my name after it!!! Anyway, what does one use Instagram for please, and how do I start?. Also, is this the same as ‘Pinterest’ ???
IF you don’t have time, don’t worry about replying, you always respond to questions about food …. But this may not be appropriate here!,
keep up the good work and thank you.
Xxx
Thank you Maggie! Instagram is similar to pinterest in that they’re both focused on images, but they’re slightly different. Pinterest is like a great big online pinboard where you can collect things on specific boards, like favourite recipes for christmas, easter etc (you can pin images from any other websites that you’re on). Instagram is a feed of images, but they’re uploaded by you and people you follow, so similar to facebook in that way. If you’re interested in using it take a look at this user guide π http://mashable.com/2012/05/29/instagram-for-beginners/ x
I love Instagram too! I follow lots of foodies and cat people (Crazy cat lady here *wave*).
It’s a great place to inspire yourself too.
Oh and on FB I recently removed more than 20 people whom I have no contact anymore or I simply don’t want to and only left close friends and family members along with few fellow foodies.
Sylvia @ Happiness is homemade recently posted…Roasted onion & carrot with rice (Pieczona cebula i marchewka z ryżem).
*Waves!* I will have to make sure I’m following you on there! π
A great selection of Instagram accounts to follow. I love Taming Twin’s one too
