Oh hey! This edition of Life Lately I’m taking inspiration from the amazing blog Life of Di in the way that I’m formatting things… hope you like it!
Lately I’ve been:
reminiscing (that’s a hard word to spell. Did I even spell it right? I have no idea)
We spent a week in France in early September and it was awesome! Eight people, including my parents, brother and girlfriend and her parents, and surprisingly few arguments. Wine and cheese helped, plus beautifully sunny and warm weather. I even went kayaking (not pictured)
Here’s me on a trampoline. It was fun. We referred to it as the trambapoline throughout the holiday, confusing those unaware of this Simpsons clip, who just thought we couldn’t say the word.
falling in love
earlier this year I mentioned Sufjan Stevens new album, Carrie and Lowell, which is just beautiful. Over the august bank holiday weekend I was feeling sorry for myself that I wasn’t getting to see him on his UK tour (all the tickets were sold out by the time I heard about it!) so I decided very impulsively to buy a resold ticket and travel 150 miles down to Brighton to see him perform at Brighton Dome!
It was a magical night – the audience was completely silent and in awe – the production and everything was just on a whole other level than any other gig I’ve been to before.
overindulging
You know how you always come back from holiday (especially from the land of carbs that is France) and promise you’ll get back on the straight and narrow with a healthyish diet? That has not happened at all. The amazing/awful for my hips Cake Club was swiftly followed this month by a fun restaurant crawl organised by It’s in Nottingham and Gemini PR. This insanity is a dessert burger. Help me.
(and then I went to a food and drink festival and ate all the churros, and ice cream. And pizza. The end. My hips hope…)
getting ready for autumn
I haven’t bought any Christmas presents yet but I do have a couple of ideas
reading lots
as always holiday sparked my love of reading which is sadly too often cast aside between blogging and browsing reddit on my phone before bed (so bad for me but so good). I read The girl with all the gifts (very good), Luckiest Girl alive (excellent, definitely a must read!), The Versions of us (meh) and The Other Rebecca (terrible).
being millionaire obsessed
don’t worry, I’m not on the hunt for a rich husband, but I have been thinking up all kinds of crazy Millionaire Shortbread combinations. First creme egg, then cookie dough, and now peanut butter. What next?
What have you been up to lately? And, let me know your suggestions for a new millionaire combo!

Thanks for the shout-out, Kerry! I always love reading through this type of posts.
I haven’t read ‘The Luckiest Girl Alive’ but it’s on my list. Have you picked up ‘The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up’ yet? Also, that dessert burger looks amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it.
