Hi friends! How is your October going? Last time I checked in I’d just returned from France and now I’m just about to fly off to Amsterdam – tomorrow we’re heading there for four days with some friends to visit other friends who live nearby.
Rest assured that this is literally the only time in my month when I’ve had (or am likely to have) two holidays in two months! Unless I become a millionaire somehow (cakes + cats = ?£?).
Lately I’ve been:
baking! (of course)
I’ve made a few autumnal things lately – caramel apple muffins, halloween cookies (with you on Monday!)
And I’ve been getting very excited about Halloween in general – are you having a party? I love to see all the trick or treaters (last year we had to go out again for more emergency sweets! – hint – do not let them reach into the bowl themselves).
Eating
First up – homemade falafels! I was driven to make these as my habit of putting pre bought falafels for my lunchtime salads was getting expensive! I used this recipe but found it oddly flavourless so I’d recommend adding more garlic.
A little tip – when I want something quick, easy and healthy for dinner, I sometimes make an egg veggie scramble! It is even easier if you have pre cooked / roasted vegetables in the fridge already. Add grated cheddar and its delicious!
I also popped to Oscar and Rosie’s to try out their new restaurant. Still indisputably the best pizza in Nottingham (though there aren’t exactly a lot of other contenders!).
Meeting food bloggers!
I went to Chiswick in London at the end of September for Food Blogger Connect. While the event itself was disappointing, I LOVED meeting all the lovely people who until then only lived in my computer! (Especially amazing Sarah of Taming Twins!).
managing adequate milkmaid braids
ish. should’ve moved the pile of laundry on the bed before instagramming.
Gawping at the beauty of autumn
god its a beaut of a season isn’t it?
Back soon with tales of all the things I’ve eaten in Amsterdam! Doei!
(Keep up with me in the meantime – I’m @kerryedwards on Instagram!)

Loving those Halloween cookies. So cute! Your kids are going to love having a mama who is so creative in the kitchen 🙂 Safe travels to Amsterdam! I’ve heard it’s gorgeous. PS – Those milkmaid braids look great on you. I wish I were better at doing hair. The majority of time I just throw my hair into a messy bun and go! Eek!

I love your comment about cakes and cats not making you money – I know that feeling! Have a wonderful time in the Dam – don’t forget to try their apple cake – it’s truly special … with Slag (cream hahaha). And I have a great recipe for butternut squash falafel which are full of flavour – let me know if you want me to dig it out.

Woohoo hope you have an awesome trip! I also struggled when I home make falafels, there must be something we are missing! x
I went a bit crazy for pumpkins last time I was shopping but couldn’t resist!
