Happy Friday friends!
Today is the first day of a long weekend for me as I celebrate my 31st birthday on Monday – I have today and Monday off (working on your birthday is sick and wrong). Today I’m heading to the gym and the WI Country Market, then baking some chocolate and coconut (bounty!) cupcakes to share with you on Monday!
Last Friday we had friends over for dinner to celebrate the end of the week! I made homemade pizza and garlic bread and we drank gin and tonic’s and wine – turns out they don’t mix, at all! I bought some quorn pepperoni to go on top too which was really tasty.
I also got a pretty summer dress from Sainsbury’s! Love the floral print and it’s super comfy.
On Sunday I had volunteered to make some cakes for the Park Garden Trail in Nottingham, so I baked cookie dough topped chocolate brownies!
The day was possibly a bit warm for super gooey brownies!
The event was super busy and crowded but the gardens were lovely and it was a beautiful sunny day!
On Tuesday I had TWO fillings at the dentist π In my defence one was a replacement and also, cake is delicious! Apparently I was very brave.
Post dentist I bought a ton of American sweets from B&M bargains, who seem to be increasing their selection all the time! The hours I had to wait to eat these were worth it – still as good as ever!
Have you tried this mascara? Just broke into my second tube and it’s awesome.
On Wednesday it was City WI night and Robin Hood came to speak to us! Tim is a lovely guy and it was really interesting hearing how he got the job of being Robin.
On Thursday I headed to the Aegon Open in Nottingham for work. It was SO hot and lovely to be outdoors. I’ve never seen professional tennis before and the power they use is incredible. Related public service announcement – wear suncream!
For anyone else obsessed with halloumi – get yourself to lidl where it’s literally half the price of all the other supermarkets.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Looks like a lovely week (if you blank all memories of the dentist…which is usually the best idea!) I’m sure I remember those chocolate-covered pretzels – am I right in thinking they used to sell them in the UK all over the place!?

Yes! We had them in the Uk in the early – mid 90s and then they stopped doing them. I don’t think dairy milk pretzels are nearly as nice!
Ooooh, love that red dress! You’ll look so pretty in it x
Thanks lady!
Happiest birthday to you lovely lady. π Wishing you all the very best. I turned 31 recently too so it is an extra special year to solidify your spot in your 30s. I have so far nothing but amazing memories of my 30s and I am sure it will be the same for you. ps. Love Halloumi and those Brownies (insert hand on both sides of face emoji) x 10. xxxx

You should make your own chocolate pretzels. Super easy.
Heh, I love making my own too! There’s just something about Flipz that takes me straight back to the early 90s…
If it wasn’t for the fillings it sounds like you’ve had the perfect week π I wish mine had been as eventful.
Btw “working on your birthday is sick and wrong” is EXACLTY how I feel. I took my birthday off for the first time this year and I have vowed to never ever work my birthday ever again! Happy birthday for Monday if I forget!!!
Quorn pepperoni is seriously tasty isn’t it. You may have just convinced me to make home-made pizzas this weekend π
Hope you have a fab week next week and look forward to seeing how you celebrated! (Hopefully not by mixing gin with wine…you’re right, now a good move!)

Happy birthday for Monday Kerry. Consider hair pulled 31 times, “hen, goose or turkey…”!
Have a lovely long weekend.

Thank you so much Angela! And I’m thankful that I’ve never heard of this birthday hair pulling tradition before!
Ha-ha, you mean you never had your hair pulled for your birthday as a child! We still do it now – even for my folks – so it can take a while to pull once for each year of age. We then say “hen, goose or turkey” and depending upon the answer depends on how many more hair pulls you get: so ‘hen’ = “count again”; ‘goose’ = “let loose”; and ‘turkey’ = “count to thirty!” No idea where the tradition originated! You’ve got to give it a whirl for the next birthday your friends / family celebrate! π
