Happy festive Friday, friends!! How has your week been? It may be cold and windy, but things here really are starting to feel properly festive. There are lots of social gatherings and glad tidings – and there’s just so much happiness and positivity floating around at the moment, along with some fantastic plans and hopes for 2014. Life is good!
This past weekend we held our Nottingham City WI Christmas Bake Sale. I baked Candy Cane Cupcakes, Hot Chocolate Cupcakes and Red Velvet Whoopie Pies, as well as gingerbread cakes and chocolate dipped oreos and marshmallows! Just writing it out makes me recall how tired I was making it all!
The bake sale was pretty successful and we had a fun day soaking up the Christmassy atmosphere – plenty of great jumpers on show!
This week I also enjoyed lunch at the White Rabbit tearoom in Nottingham – its a cute little spot, although the food is definitely tastier at the Hungry Pumpkin! But its definitely worth a visit if you’re in Nottingham for the sweet vintage china alone!
A few slightly random snaps – this is Marty after we got a supermarket delivery – he managed to locate the bags containing cat food fairly speedily! Also – a cute chalkboard from M&S that would be excellent for meal planning that I was umming and ahhing over, the Christmas tree in Beeston, the Malt Cross in Nottingham decorated for the holidays, and my Christmas tree!
Finally, on Thursday I spent a very fun festive evening with some of my close friends, exchanging gifts, eating and talking! We ate mini calzones of the savoury (tomato, olive, basil and mozzarella) and the sweet (nutella and ricotta!) variety and I got some lovely baby cuddles too!
This week, my blog also got featured in PicMonkey’s FREE holiday eCookbook! They got in touch with me and asked me to create a recipe card for them using PicMonkey – which I’m always raving about, cos its amazing, and I did using my S’mores cookies. You can download the eCookbook free from their blog here. You can find me on page 18!
This weekend we’re heading home to my mum and dads for a pre-Christmas festive meal – I can’t wait!
Have a wonderful weekend readers! What have you got planned?
