Happy Friday readers! How has your week been?
This past weekend, we visited my parents house for an early Christmas celebration, featuring lunch with turkey and all the trimmings! My sneaky mum even got us extra presents for the occasion too! I wore my new forest green skinny jeggings (OMG SO comfortable!) and a jumper, plus a cut out jumper.
My mum got me an adorable heart shaped ceramic baking dish (from Debenhams in case anyone is taken by it!), complete with a little bird for pie baking to let the steam out! I also got to look through the Outsider Tart cookbook Baked in America for the first time, as a kind friend of mine saw it in the library and checked it out for me! It’s packed full of fantastic American baking, such as oatmeal whoopie pies, Snickers brownies and many other delectable sounding treats! It also features recipes in ounces, cups or grams, which is something that I want to start doing here on Kerry Cooks soon.
Not content to just stuff my face with Christmas food (I made my Cinnamon buns this week and my house smelled just sooo festive!), I’ve also been tucking into festive drinks, like Teapigs spiced winter tea (literally, Christmas in a mug) and Belvoir mulled winter punch.
This week also saw our work Christmas meal which took place at Fothergills in Nottingham… the food was pretty good… I have high standards! We did a work secret santa, which was random (not sure if that is bizarre, or fun) and I ended up with a harmonica!
Finally this week, I headed to Petit Paris with friends from Nottingham City WI for another Christmas meal! I enjoyed a stilton and apple tart, a veggie main (risotto – a bit bland!) and a very tasty sticky toffee pudding. It was great to see everyone and catch up, and I’m really looking forward to our festive book club coming up on Tuesday!
Oh, and the picture of my hand covered in makeup needs some explanation too! I went on a bit of a makeup shopping spree before the meal – I’ll share some of my finds with you soon! I was after the perfect dark red lipstick – I’m not sure I found it, but I did get a nice one which everyone seemed to like!
Today I’m off work, taking Marty to a specialist vets. He needs to have some tests on his heart (he has a heart murmur that seems to be causing him some breathing difficulties). Cross your fingers for us! The combination of it being Friday the 13th and a black cat must equal good stuff, right?!
Are you going for a festive meal with your work or friends this year? Are you doing secret Santa?
