Happy Friday friends! How are you doing?
This week has been quieter than last week, which has been good! I’ve been going to the new gym that I joined – the circuits class is an absolute killer! I’ve also been trying out some new workouts using kettle bells.
This past weekend I managed to take down my blog messing around in the css – oops! Thankfully the amazingly fantabulous Jo helped me by sorting it out in double quick time! If you have a wordpress site and need technical help or a makeover, get in touch with her! Oh, and don’t go messing around in the backend unless you know what you’re doing!
To say thanks, I decided to bake Jo some pecan and mocha brownies. I’m always sending brownies to people in the post (the people at the post office get very jealous looking when they ask me what I’m sending!) and it works really well. I just wrap them well in parchment paper, tie with string and pop into a padded bag marked fragile. I’ll share the brownie recipe with you soon – these were soo good! The inside was like liquid ganache!
I’ve been sticking to healthy protein veggie smoothies for breakfasts in the week, but at the weekend I treat myself to something more delicious! I’m finally getting the hang of proper scrambled eggs – so good on wholemeal seeded toast.
I also had a cake disaster this weekend! It happens to everyone, annoyingly! I tried to bake lemon and blueberry loaf cakes but inexplicably they were raw on the inside and getting more and more burned on the outside…. so they ended up in the bin! What a shame. I’ll definitely give them another go – fingers crossed for better results next time!
I also made some baked oatmeal for the first time. It’s kind of an american thing, you take the ingredients for oatmeal / porridge and bake it in the oven. It was delicious! I made this blueberry and coconut version and it was so good! It does have a little coconut oil (I added about a teaspoon of honey instead of sugar and left out the egg) but still the kind of breakfast you can feel good about!
Bella continues to be a handful (if you’re thinking wait till she has kids, I’m sure you’re right!), and it’s mainly Milo that she spends her days relentlessly annoying. When she’s tired herself out zipping around the house, she does become quite cute though!
I picked up these pretty red tuplips this week – a very early, but promising sign that spring is on it’s way!
This week we’ve been watching the new series of parks and recreation! I also finished Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (it’s pretty short). I really liked it but I wasn’t 100% on the end. Anyone read it?
What are you doing this weekend friends? I’m making something exciting for y’all for valentines! It might involve nutella…
