Happy Friday readers! Did you have a lovely Halloween? We carved a scary pumpkin and handed out sweets and chocolates to trick or treaters. I love seeing the little kids in their outfits!
This past week has been a full one – last Friday night I rushed home to make Rainbow Cake and Cupcakes for a friends daughters birthday party. Five hours and a bombsite of a kitchen later, and I was really pleased with the result – a thinner Rainbow Cake than the one from my original recipe (owing to being baked in larger 9 inch tins). I decorated the cake board it was on with smarties arranged in rainbow patterns around the outside which was really cute.
On Saturday I did yet more baking, ready for Cake Club the next day – I made Chocolate Whoopie Pies with a delicious buttercream filling with a secret ingredient. I’ll share them in the next few weeks – they were really tasty! I also attempted to run off some cake calories on Saturday with a run around the local park. I’m really enjoying the Runkeeper app, although I feel strangely compelled to get a new personal best each time, which probably isn’t sustainable unless I keep running further and further!
We made some highly delicious pizzas on Saturday night too – I highly recommend brie as a pizza topping!
Sunday I headed to cake club and hung out with lots of babies and enjoyed lots of delicious cake! I went for Pumpkin Cake, Pear and Hazlenut Cake, and a spider teacake – they were all really tasty. I also decorated my house with a few bits and bobs ready for Halloween.
This week I discovered bags of chocolate fingers with our wedding date on – 21/6/2014 (as the best before) which I just had to instragram. I also got my hair did (Lucille is amazing if you’re in the Nottinghamshire area!), carved my pumpkin (and roasted the pumpkin seeds!) and enjoyed my new Pumpkin spice candle from the legendary shop that is Home and Bargains.
This weekend I’m visiting my family and celebrating a 30th birthday! The first of my childhood friends is turning 30… and I’m making him a special cake to celebrate!
I’ll be back on Monday with a recipe for dark chocolate S’mores cookies – the perfect accompaniment to Bonfire Night!
x Kerry
