Stop what you’re doing and look at this!

Fantastic-ly illuminating article by Zoe Williams at The Guardian on the discrimination against women taking maternity leave. Here’s an excerpt – “Don’t buy the line that this is one worker against another, it isn’t. Don’t buy the line that pregnant women are hard to sack – they’ve never been easier to sack. Don’t buy the line that maternity leave is a “women’s issue”, or even a family issue. It’s an issue for all of us, and we would all be poorer without it.”

Some awesome blogs like An American Cupcake in London and Florence Finds are up for the Cosmo Blog awards – vote here!

Speaking of which, if you need convincing to vote for Kelly of American Cupcake, just take a look at these gorgeous chocolate chip sticky buns…. I can almost taste the gooey chocolate through the computer screen!

Fascinating – where do you stand on the global weight scale? I stand in line with someone from Belgium or the Philippines, apparently

Summertime = tomato time! Hurrah! Here are some great ideas on what to do with the glut

Cinema’s love a rainy weekend. Good thing there are some decent films out at the moment!

Olympic workers win their fight for the right….. to eat chips. Huh. Guess they really like chips.

Salted Rolo Brownie cookies – these look so OMG. Interesting that you can get that crackle effect from using a very wet cookie batter, I did not know this! I also didn’t know that Rolo’s apparently come individually wrapped in the US!

Planning a wedding? Don’t get sucked into the trap of thinking that you need these very silly wedding things. Hilarity – “You know what kind of dress needs fittings? The kind that doesn’t fit!”

Are these name-necklaces cute? Opinions please!

How the washout summer of 2012 is harming wildlife (except slugs and snails, which are thriving). Won’t somebody think of the ice-cream men?

Great article on the real-life story of Truman Capote’s mother who was the basis for Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Parallel parking is the ultimate spectator sport. What fun!

Why is the internet (and the world) so obsessed with bacon?

Fun links! I loved the global fat scale. Do you mind if I share that link tomorrow for my Friday Round-Up? (with a link back to you, as well, of course!)
