Stop what you’re doing and look at this!

January 29, 2014 By Kerry Cooks 12 Comments

This fantastic post from I am Baker contains all the essential advice you need to know when making a layer cake (like my Rainbow Cake). I wish I’d read this a couple of years ago!

10 ways to be a better you. These kind of lists are often lame, but this one is full of good advice!

Speaking of Rainbows, this is the clearest tutorial I’ve seen on how to make a checkerboard – style cake in this case – a rainbow one!

These just jumped to the top of my t0-bake list. WHOA.

Wait a minute, they just got surpassed by these Nutella filled cookies made by my talented friend (and wedding cake baker!) Liana! Why did it never occur to me to put the jar of nutella in the freezer?!

The fantabuloustastic Averie Cooks made her very own Crack Pie, the amazingly popular dessert sold by Momofoku Milk Bar. Dat ingredient list…

I found this article really interesting (not to mention the debate in the comments!) and it stirred up a lot of passionate feelings. Should a woman take her husbands name when they get married?

Loving the articles you’ve found this (or should I say last) week!

I don’t want to take my partners name if/when we get married. It’s a bit of a bone of contention we still disagree on. We are both the “end of our line” and I feel like changing my name would be changing my identity. My ideal is that we have a double barrelled last name so as a family unit we would all have the same name. I’d expect him to change his too – that way it really shows the marriage to be a union πŸ™‚

Also loving the 10 ways to be a better you – I’ve been doing a lot of meditating, self-reflection etc atm and I think this could help too!

    Thanks again for sharing xx

Thanks Emma – such a lovely comment!

I completely agree with you on the name thing – and it did take lee a while to come around! But living your life a certain way just cause it’s what other people do is bullshit! Xx

I actually really love that ’10 Ways to Be…’ list. I know what you mean about them being somewhat corny but i enjoyed that list and could benefit by incorporating some of the suggestions into my life. πŸ™‚

Wow, when I saw how many replies there were to the blog about name changing after marriage I wasn’t surprised. Its a very important issue that new brides have to decide upon.
I love the fact that girls are keeping their old surname, especially that my girl is one of them. Xxxxxxxxx
